The Builders Association is pleased to announce the completion of the Avigail Eshet Home Renovation Project. Back in December 2008, Avigail's parents requested BAGB's help in transforming a garden level basement into a living, play and treatment space for Avigail Eshet, an adorable 7-year old girl with severe medical disabilities due to Familial Dysautonomia. Familial Dysautonomia is a devastating, rare, and life-threatening genetic disease that affects the autonomic and sensory nervous systems in the body. Avigail's parents, medical team, and educators believed that despite her debilitating condition, she should be cared for at home. However, Avigail's current room was no longer suitable for the level of care she now needed. Avigail's home required significant modifications to ensure her home care program is successful.
In January of 2008 a call went out from then BAGB President Stefanos Efstratoudakis to the membership for donations of materials and labor to complete the project for Avigail. In true BAGB spirit, members stepped up and generously donated all that was needed.
With Stefanos acting as the General Contractor on this project and with the help of Kevin Randall of Nauset Construction the project was a success. Aviagil made a smooth transition into her new space a few weeks ago and the family has expressed their deep appreciation to all the BAGB and non-BAGB members that helped transform their basement into a functional, beautiful space.
The following BAGB members were instrumental in making Avigail's space a reality; Anchor Insulation, Atlantic Heating & Air Conditioning, Audio Video Design, Audio Video Intelligence, Cape Cod Lumber, Clarke Distribution, Dalia Kitchens, Essex Restoration, F.D. Sterritt Lumber, Ideal Concrete Block, Mitchell Construction Group, Moynihan Lumber, Nauset Construction, New England Waterproofing, Patriot Painters and Builders, Pella Windows and Doors, Splash, Stefco Construction and Wolfers Lighting. For a full list of all the volunteers that help on this project check out the BAGB website on Monday, April 12th.
